Lower operating costs in developing countries allow greater planting
Farmers are not employed or paid to plant GiftTrees on their land. Our initiative provides the funds for projects so charities and NGOs can facilitate the planting and train, local people, to look after their trees.
The operating costs of our partners on the ground will reflect the local and national economy. If these costs escalate to the point where projects are no longer financially viable under our £1.23 per tree funding model, we would then direct our funding to more cost-effective projects, in other countries if necessary.
This scenario would also suggest that local incomes and standards of living had risen to the point where our social goals had been achieved.
