Raising awareness of the environmental value of all trees
The world needs more trees as well as better protection for our forests. Our initiative encourages communities to protect existing trees as well as those that are newly planted by raising awareness of their environmental value.
In many cases, they are replacing trees that were cut down for fuel or cash crops like tobacco or palm oil. Planting schemes are also designed to prevent soil erosion, increase resilience against drought and flooding, and restore the fertility of depleted soil.
These benefits and education also help reduce the pressure on surviving forests, along with all the other advantages, such as supplementary income from selling fruit and more sustainable farming practices.
